Building ‘Green’ /

GreenSource Magazine contacted me to fill out an all-Canadian roster of contributors/illustrators in their summer issue that featured Toronto. The tree image was a complicated issue both with a diversifying 'green' marketplace, but also the expansion of LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design). Thinking of a mangrove tree, we settled on a deeply rooted tree whose expansion allowed for further new growth.

The second (flag) shows the USA opening up it's long sealed borders to outside companies & governments in an effort to deal with environmental issues. There were two versions, of which, the Jasper Johns-styled version was used, which is a fun departure to go a little more painterly looking.
