Strength Through Design!

Sometimes you just have to freak out a little when an art-director/designer makes your illustration look like it’s made of gold, which is what happened in this weekend’s Focus section in the Globe & Mail. The venerable & generally amazing David Woodside took my illustration for an article on gaining strength through trauma & created a page that just blew my mind. The simplicity, space & tempo all feel immaculate — giving both the type, & the image, a space to breathe & feel alive.

I’m super honoured & pleased, obviously. Much thanks to Cinders McLeod as well who art-directed the piece. It was her suggestion to go with a phoenix right off the top.
